Basement Theater in Denver Features 4K Projector + 7.1 Channel Surround Sound

This home theater in Denver was retro fit into an existing finished basement. We were able to fish all of the wiring through soffits and the ceiling to accommodate the JVC DLA-RS4910 reference series projector, Episode 700 series 7.1 channel surround sound, and new Lutron lighting with all the source equipment located out of sight in the mechanical room. The entire project was completed in less than 5 days from start to finish.

The front wall had a jog in the corner so we laid out the approximate dimensions of the screen and woodwork to fabricate the new panels.

We then built a floating wall to flush out the remainder of the front wall and create the cabinet niche in the left hand side.

Next we installed the front left, center, and right in-wall speakers that live behind the 120″ acoustically transparent screen. This provides the optimal experience as the speakers can be placed at ear level and audio comes from the exact spot as the video. We then installed the 10″ powered subwoofer (bottom left) that creates the rumble for all those Sci-fi soundtracks. We also ran wiring for the new sconces at this stage.

The finishing touch is installing all the custom woodwork to really dress up the theater. The homeowner is still shopping for the perfect sconces that will flank the screen and be controlled via in-wall dimmer and the universal remote.

The equipment rack neatly houses all the gear and is located out of sight in the mechanical room. Everything is operated RF by the pro24r universal remote from Pro Control. The Integra DTR 50.6 receiver provides THX rated sound and OPPO BDP-S103D reference level blu-ray player provides stunning visuals
